"Victor Segalen is undoubtedly a very beautiful poet, a great traveler too, who from the bottom of my native Brittany went to discover China, to seek as an archaeologist, the story with his words so musical. Those of Stèles, his most famous collection immediately spoke to me, gave me, as often the desire for a chamber music work, speechless but directly from the text, its colors, its rhythm.
I chose four Stèles from this poet, who dreamed of translating the inscriptions engraved on these ancient Chinese stones to structure the work : I. Musical Stone; II. My lover has the virtues of water; III. I am told…; IV. Advice to the good traveler.
